Broncos Re-Sign Running Back J.K. Dobbins to Two-Year Contract
The Denver Broncos are re-signing running back J.K. Dobbins to a two-year deal, according to Mike Klis of KUSA-TV, 9NEWS. Dobbins appeared to confirm his return to the Mile High City in a social media post.
When healthy, Dobbins has proven to be one of the best running backs in the NFL. He has averaged a stellar 5.2 yards per carry for his career and has scored 26 touchdowns in 47 games.
Dobbins averaged 5.0 yards per attempt during the 2025 campaign and became the first Broncos running back since Mike Anderson in 2005 to reach 750 rushing yards within the first 10 games of a season. He led Denver in carries (153), rushing yards (772) and runs of at least 10 yards (21) last season.
Unfortunately, Dobbins’ 2025 campaign came to an abrupt conclusion when he suffered a season-ending Lisfranc injury in Week 10. Before that injury, Dobbins’ 772 rushing yards ranked fourth in the NFL. Last season, Dobbins failed to play more than 10 games for the fourth time in his six-year career. He missed the entire 2021 campaign with a torn ACL and played just one game in 2023 due to a torn Achilles.
Broncos head coach Sean Payton acknowledged that Dobbins’ injury was a big reason Denver struggled at times down the stretch to find consistency in the run game. His explosive run total was seven more than the Broncos’ next running back – RJ Harvey finished the 2025 campaign with 14 runs of at least 10 yards.
Dobbins’ 772 rushing yards in 2025 and 905 yards rushing for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2024 were the most in back-to-back seasons in his career, as were the 13 combined rushing touchdowns over the past two seasons. He spent the first four seasons of his career with the Baltimore Ravens prior to joining the Chargers in 2024 and signing with Denver in 2025.
